Suburban Garage Door has worked on Plano doors since 1992. We are a family business with our shop up the road in Allen, so a Plano call is a short drive down US 75 and a familiar one.
If your door will not open, a spring let go, or the opener finally quit, call (972) 414-6900. We will tell you what is wrong, what it costs to fix, and what it does not need. In that order.
A stuck door is frustrating, and a few of the common ways people try to un-stick one make things worse. The short version:
Then call (972) 414-6900 and tell us what you saw and heard. Most of the time we can tell you roughly what you are dealing with before anyone drives anywhere. If it cannot wait, say so; emergency service is part of the job in this trade.
Plano built out fast in the 1980s and 1990s, and a lot of those houses are still on their first springs and their first opener. Parts that old do not fail at random. They fail in patterns, and after three decades on Plano driveways we know the patterns.
Torsion springs are rated in cycles, not years. A door that has gone up and down twice a day since 1994 has spent them, and when a spring lets go it goes with a bang people describe as a gunshot. This is the most common call we get from Plano. We replace springs in pairs, because when one goes the other has the same age and the same cycles on it, and a second service call two months later is a cost you should not have to pay. More on broken spring repair.
Plano summers sit over 100 degrees for weeks, and a garage is not air conditioned. That heat is hard on opener motors and on the logic boards in older units. Some of what we find is a real failure. Plenty of it is a safety sensor knocked out of alignment or a worn gear, which is a much smaller repair. We check the cheap causes first, every time. More on garage door opener repair.
The February 2021 freeze cracked panels and seized mechanisms across the metroplex, and we still find doors carrying that damage. Hard cold makes steel brittle and finishes off a spring that was already marginal. If your door has been slower or noisier since a hard freeze, have it looked at before it strands your car on a work morning.
North Texas sits on clay that swells and shrinks with the seasons, and it moves foundations. When a garage opening moves, the door goes out of alignment with it. A door that catches on one side, or wears one roller much faster than the others, is usually telling you about the opening rather than the door. That deserves a proper diagnosis, because a new door will not fix a crooked opening.
Most of these failures announce themselves early, as noise, drag, or slow travel. A maintenance visit catches them while they are still small.
Plenty of Plano doors we visit have another decade in them with one honest repair. When that is true we say so, even though a new door would pay us better.
We tell you the price up front, before any work starts. If the technician finds something else once the door is apart, that is a conversation with you, not a line item that shows up on the invoice. And we will not sell you a new door when a repair will hold. That is the whole pricing policy, and it has kept customers with us since 1992.
We publish the conditions right next to the coupon, because fine print you find out about later is just a hidden fee with a delay.
All offers are limited-time, cannot be combined, and must be presented at time of service. Mention the one you want when you call. The current list always lives on our coupons page.
We cover the whole city: the older streets around historic downtown Plano, the 1980s and 1990s neighborhoods through central and west Plano, the Legacy and Dallas North Tollway corridor, and the newer builds up toward SH 121.
Our shop is on Main Street in Allen, a short drive from any of them, so we can often reach a Plano door the same day it breaks, especially if you catch us in the morning. We will not promise a window we cannot hit. If today is not possible, we say so on the phone, not after you have burned an afternoon waiting.
We answer the phone Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm. Doors do not respect weekends, so neither do our Saturday hours.
Some doors really are done: a panel cracked past patching, rust through the sections, damage that costs more to chase than to replace. When that is the honest answer, we say that too, and we handle the installation ourselves.
Plano has a lot of HOAs and a lot of streets with a settled look, so we help you choose a door that fits the block and clears the architectural committee, not the one with the best margin for us. Browse the Timeless Collection, the Contemporary Collection, and Recessed Panel doors to see the styles side by side.
A classic style with a distinctive design.
An original style with endless options.
A traditional look with a modern construction.
A dead opener does not always mean a new opener. Sensors, gears, and travel limits cause a large share of the opener calls we run, and those are repairs, not replacements. When the motor really is done, we handle opener installation, mostly LiftMaster, and we program remotes and keypads while we are there.
Why replace both springs when only one broke?
On a two-spring door, both springs have the same age and the same cycles on them. When one lets go, the other is close behind. Replacing the pair in one visit costs less than two service calls, which is why we recommend it.
How fast can you get to Plano?
Often the same day, especially for a morning call. Our shop is in Allen, and Plano is one of the closest cities we cover. You will get a straight answer on the phone, not a window we hope to hit.
Are you open on Saturday?
Yes, from 8 am to 2 pm. Weekday hours are 8 am to 5 pm, and we are closed Sunday.
Do you work on my brand of door or opener?
Yes. We repair and replace all brands of garage doors, openers, and remotes. For new opener installations we mostly fit LiftMaster.
Which parts of Plano do you cover?
All of them: downtown and east Plano, the central neighborhoods, west Plano out to the Tollway, and north to SH 121.
Will you try to sell me a new door?
No. If a repair will hold, we tell you a repair will hold. New doors are for doors that are actually done.
